The rate of terrorist threat level in the UK is substantial! How do we protect ourselves and others from this?

Think about this. The places we feel the most comfortable coinsides with the places we feel most secure. What is that phrase? Home comforts. Our homes are our secure safe place where the people around us are our closest family or friends. But what happens when we leave the house to the pub or a major event?

Security. Door supervisors, Stewards, anyone who holds an SIA license helps around our area to keep us safe. In order to do so they require training in all fields and as a part-time Steward I have accumulated a lot of knowledge on how we keep ourselves and others safe.

1.  Always keep your eye on the public
No matter how busy a venue is everywhere has rules and regulations people have to follow and if someone isn't or is getting out of hand you need to be there. As well as making sure you body search and bag search with the right measures. Using the back of your hand to search avoids the more sensitive part of your hand being damaged if the person is carrying a weapon. Anything could happen. Someone needing first aid, a lost child and more. Remember to also use your initiative in these circumstances.

2. Be prepared to face someone who is a threat
Keep your guard up. You need to have your hands either Infront or behind you at all times because that will allow you to defend yourself fast and strongly. It's all about reaction time. If someone is approaching you threateningly then the less seconds it takes to be ready the better. Your hands must be out your pockets and when an attacker comes towards you with their fist, you must use the palm for your hand in and be in a secure position. This is so the cameras show that your not being a thread to others, you didn't attack this person first.

Remember to note this down your notebook and pen are your best friend in court!

3. Ur own personal safety is most important
You don't want to get hurt on the job do you?
If the security is hurt not only will you be In terrible pain but that is one less person that knows what they are doing, keeps others safe, knows what to look out for when a threat is approaching and more.

3. What to look out for when observing terrorists:
H – Has the item been Hidden? Has it deliberately been concealed? O – Is it Obviously suspicious? Does it seem odd or out of place, is there wires, liquids or batteries sticking out of it? T – Is it Typical for the location?

4.Customer service is also important!
Within events such as Victorious festival or a football stadium most people just want to enjoy there day and watch/ listen to whateve they want and overall just have a good time. Even if having a good time means a lot of alcohol!  Always best to keep a smile on you face, chat to the public and make people happy. Even when someone prior was yelling in your face.
